ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) has issued MBBS, BDS degrees to students enrolled in medical colleges without obtaining 65% marks in MDCAT, as well as to educational institutions. Warned to cancel his registration on such admissions, ARY News reports.


The handout by the PMC came after the Sindh government announced that it had reduced the required numbers in MDCAT for admission in medical institutions by 50 per cent.


The PMC Handout states that MBBS and BDS degrees will not be awarded to any student entering any university or college with less than 65% marks in MDCAT.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

                                                                                                                                                            Medical degree will not be recognized globally without obtaining MDCAT certificate from PMC, he added, adding that MDCAT is required for admission in medical and dental colleges and to pass it. The ratio is set at 65% or 137 marks.


He further clarified that it must be implemented for all medical and dental colleges in Sindh province. The PMC has also launched the National Medical Scholarship Program this year and only students with the required merit will be able to access it.


The Sindh government on Tuesday announced that students can get admission in medical and dental colleges if they get 50% marks in Medical and Dental Admission College Test (MDCAT) 2021.




In this regard, notification has been issued by Sindh Health Department.


"Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) Larkana is allowed to start the process of admission in MBBS / BDS in medical and dental universities / colleges (public and private sector)."


The notification added that "the overall weight and conditions for admission will remain the same and strict adherence to the relevant rules will be followed."
