Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has stressed on the need for global unity in Afghanistan with concerted efforts for the economic betterment of the Afghan people.
He was talking to Maj. Gen. Abdullah bin Hassan Al-Sulaiti, Commander of Qatar Emir Naval Force, who called on him at GHQ Rawalpindi.
Issues of mutual and professional interest and regional security were discussed during the meeting. Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Pakistan values its fraternal relations with Qatar and the Pakistan Army is also keen to enhance defense and security cooperation with the Qatari Armed Forces.
General Bajwa stressed the need for global unity in Afghanistan with concerted efforts for the economic development of the Afghan people.
The distinguished guest acknowledged the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and pledged to enhance cooperation in various fields.
He also appreciated Pakistan's role in the Afghan situation, special efforts for border management and its role in regional stability.
Earlier in the day, British Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP) Nigel Casey met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the GHQ.
Issues of mutual interest, including recent developments in Afghanistan, regional security situation were discussed during the meeting.
